Using the 1Password Browser Extension

Getting Started

First, install the 1Password extension in your browser. Once installed, you’ll see the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar. Click the icon and sign in to your 1Password account.

After signing in, the extension will be ready to help you fill and save passwords automatically.

Signing In to a Website

When you visit a website where you already have a saved login, 1Password will recognize the site.

You can:

  • Click the 1Password icon in the login field, or
  • Use a keyboard shortcut to open 1Password

Then select the appropriate login, and 1Password will automatically fill in your username and password.

Saving a New Login

If you log in to a website and your credentials aren’t already saved, 1Password will prompt you to save them.

You’ll see a prompt asking if you want to save the login. Confirm the details, and the login will be stored securely in your vault for future use.

Creating a New Account

When signing up for a new account, 1Password can generate a strong, unique password for you.

When you click into the password field:

  • 1Password suggests a secure password

Once you create the account, 1Password will save the new login automatically.
